Why does this post about "How to Lie with Statistics" perform so well?

Recently I’ve been working on the Effortmark website for its owner, Caroline Jarrett. One of Caroline’s questions was about the popularity of a single post on her site when compared to the rest of her posts
As you can probably guess from the title, the post in question is Why I no longer recommend “How to lie with statistics”. I have some ideas…
When discussing this question with Caroline one thing did seem to stand out, however, rather than just dive right in and state that it’s the cause of the popularity, I’m going to run a little experiment to see if my hypothesis is correct.
This brief post is my experiment. In time, I will report my findings through updates to this post.
